Alchemy Basics: Alcohol Creation

The entire alchemy world is panicking, even as I write
this. Hundreds of Alchemists, despairing of their studies,
have produced copious amounts of alcohol using the method
that was announced by the Scholar Association. None of us
expected this disaster to happen, but more and more Alchemists
are abusing this alcohol production method. I hope you, fair reader,
never succumb to the ills of alcohol once you decide to learn alchemy.
I leave this you this book, hoping that it will prevent future Alchemists
from harming themselves with the knowledge they learn.

What is alcohol?
In chemistry, an alcohol is any organic compound
in which a hydroxyl group (-OH) is bound to a carbon
atom of an alkyl or substituted alkyl group.
The general formula is ROH. Methanol is formed when
an alkyl group bonds to a methyl group, a hydrophobic alkyl
group derived from ethane. Ethanol is formed when an alkyl
group bonds to an ethyl group, an alkyl functional group derived
from ethane. The structure of an alkyl is the same as its straight
chained hydrocarbon counterpart but with one less hydrogen atom.

Ingredients: 5 stem, 5 Poison Spore,
1 Empty Test Tube, 1 Empty Bottle
Directions:
Put sugared stems and poison spores in the empty bottle.
Add some water and boil. Collect the gas, and then cool it down
for distillation. Place the liquefied gas in the empty test tube. Keep
this book with you and refer to it while you gather the ingredients
and use the Prepare Potion skill so that you can create Alcohol.</nowiki>

military incorporated the alcohol production
process to develop the Bottle Grenade
production process which is detailed in
this book. Bottle Grenades were developed
for the military: this information is considered
highly dangerous, so please do not release this
book to the public for the sake of preventing
disasters similar to the alcohol fiasco.

What is a Bottle Grenade?
In its simplest form, a Bottle Grenade
is a glass bottle that contains gasoline.

Ingredients: 1 Alcohol, 1 Fabric, 1 Empty Bottle
Directions:
Carefully pour alcohol into a medicine bowl, and
expose it in the air to oxidize it. Fill an empty
bottle with the oxidized alcohol, and stick the fabric
into the bottle so that half of it is soaking the alcohol,
and the other half is sticking out of the bottle. Tie a knot
in the fabric near the bottle opening to ensure that the
alcohol won't spill. Keep this book with you and refer
to it while you gather the ingredients and use the Prepare
Potion skill so that you can create Bottle Grenades.</nowiki>

Alchemy Basics: Plant Bottle Creation

----------------Preface--------------------
Using alchemy to shape and mold biological forms
is very difficult, and considered very advanced science.
When we conducted form changing experiments on plants,
we failed to transform any of them since they were too weak
to survive any alchemic changes. Just before we decided to
abandon this research, we discovered that the man-eating
plants near Mount Mjolnir and Juno are incredibly hardy,
and can endure alchemic transformation. This book details
the process of transforming man-eating plants into bottle form.

What is a plant bottle?
Plant bottles are alchemically treated man-eating
plants that have been transformed so that they can be
carried in bottles. Throwing this bottle in the ground will
produce a fully grown Plant monster that will attack other
creatures. Alchemists must have the Summon Flora skill in
order to transform the plant bottles into man-eating plants.

Ingredients: 2 Maneater Blossoms, 1 Empty Bottle
Directions: Place two Maneater Blossoms in a medicine
bowl, and then use the Prepare Potion skill while referring
to this book. You must learn the Summon Flora skill to
transform plant bottles into man-eating plants again.

== Potion Book 5 ==

Basic Alchemy: Marine Sphere Creation

----------------Preface--------------------
We discovered a monster called Marine Sphere
while exploring Izlude. It floated peacefully in the
water, but exploded if something came into contact
with it. We devised a way so that it could survive
outside of water and move in the air, and developed
a method so that it could be alchemically converted
into a bottled form. We think using Marine Spheres
as bombs would be useful for Alchemists to defend
themselves against hostile enemies.

What is a marine sphere?
Marine Spheres are living bombs that explode
if something touches it. They can be transformed
into a bottled form that must be handled with the
appropriate safety precautions. Alchemists must
also learn the Summon Marine Sphere skill to
transform bottled Marine Spheres back into
their original forms.
Ingredients: 1 Detonator, 1 Tendon, 1 Empty Bottle
Directions: Place the detonator and tendon into
a medicine bowl, and use the Prepare Potion skill
while referring to this book. You must learn the
Summon Marine Sphere skill if you want to
Produce a live Marine Sphere from the bottle.

== Potion Book 6 ==

Intermediate Alchemy: Glistening Coat

----------------Preface--------------------

The Mage's Energy Coat skill that generates
a mana film that protects the caster inspired
Alchemists to develop the Glistening Coat.
The Glistening Coat can be used in conjunction
with protective Alchemist skills enhances protection
that won't be affected by most external factors.
However, these artificial coats automatically lose
their effectiveness after a certain time limit.

What is a Glistening Coat?
A glistening coat is a soft, viscous substance
that can safely coat objects to temporarily increase
their resistance to damage. Only highly skilled Alchemists
are capable of applying the Glistening Coat by using the
Biochemical Helm, Synthesized Shield, Synthetic Armor,
or Alchemical Weapon skills.
Required Materials: 1 Alcohol, 1 Zenorc's Fang,
1 Heart of Mermaid, 1 Empty Bottle
Process: Fill a medicine bowl halfway with alcohol, and
then melt a Zenorc's Fang in it. Wash a heart of mermaid,
and add it to the Zenorc fang and alcohol mixture. Finally,
use the Prepare Potion skill to pour the solution into an
empty bottle. You will need to learn special skills such as
Biochemical Helm, Synthesized Shield, Synthetic Armor,
and Alchemical Weapon to actually apply the Glistening
Coat to equipment.

Intermediate Alchemy: Condensed Potions

If the basics of potion making is already second
nature to you, then you might be prepared for the
more advanced process of producing condensed
potions. Condensing maximizes the effectiveness
of your potions while minimizing their weight and
the required production materials.

What is a Condensed Potion?
A condensed potion is an incredibly dense potion
that has the same effectiveness as its normal
counterpart, but is much lighter in weight.
Condensing potions is a great convenience
since it increases the amount of potions that
Alchemists and other adventurers can carry.

Red Slim Potion: Restores 45 HP.
Required Materials: 1 Red Potion,
1 Cactus Needle, 1 Empty Cylinder
Process: Slowly pour a red potion into a medicine
bowl, and mix in ground cactus needle. You must
keep this book with you as a reference while you
use the Prepare Potion skill to pour the solution
into an empty cylinder.
Yellow Slim Potion : Restores 175 HP
Required Materials: 1 Yellow Potion ,
1 Mole Whisker, 1 Empty Cylinder
Process: Slowly pour a yellow potion into
a medicine bowl, and mix in boiled, liquefied
mole whisker. You must keep this book with you
as a reference while you use the Prepare Potion
skill to pour the solution into an empty cylinder.

White Slim Potion: Restores 325 HP.
Required Materials: White Potion,
1 Witch Starsand, 1 Empty Cylinder
Process: Slowly pour a white potion into a medicine
bowl, and mix in witch starsand. You must keep this
book with you as a reference while you use the Prepare
Potion skill to pour the solution into an empty cylinder.

Potion making is considered one of the essential
basics of alchemy. This final edition details the potion
production processes that will enable Alchemists to restore
their HP, SP, and even cure abnormal statuses by using
potions that they have easily created!

What is a potion?
A potion is a single dosage of liquid medicine or
poison. Most potions are used as medicine to restore
HP or SP, cure abnormal statuses, or temporarily enhance
the human body. This book contains instructions to produce
red, yellow, white, and blue potions, anodyne, aloevera,
and embryos.
Red Potion: Restores 45 HP.
Required materials: 1 Red Herb,
1 Empty Potion bottle
Process: Grind a red herb in a medicine bowl,
and then slowly add clean water. You must keep
this book with you as a reference while you use
the Prepare Potion skill to pour the resulting
solution in an empty potion bottle.
Yellow Potion: Restores 175 HP.
Required materials: 1 Yellow Herb,
1 Empty Bottle
Process: Grind a yellow herb in a medicine bowl,
and then slowly add clean water. You must keep this

Blue Potion: Restores 60 SP.
Required materials: 1 Blue herb,
1 empty potion, 1 scell
Process: Grind a blue herb and scell in a medicine
bowl, and then slowly add clean water. You must
keep this book with you as a reference while you
use the Prepare Potion skill to pour the resulting
solution in an empty potion bottle.

Anodyne: A painkiller
which temporarily nullifies pain.
Required materials: 1 Alcohol,
1 Empty Bottle, 1 Ment
Process: Grind ment in a medicine bowl, and
then slowly add water and alcohol. You must
keep this book with you as a reference while
you use the Prepare Potion skill to pour the
resulting solution in an empty bottle.

Aloevera: Temporarily enhances
your offense abilities at the cost of decreasing your defense abilities.
Required materials: 1 Alcohol, 1 Empty Bottle, 1 Honey
Process: Pour honey and alcohol into a medicine
bowl, and stir the mixture. Slowly add a small amount
of water while continuing to stir the mixture. If you suspect
the lack of aloe in this procedure, then think carefully about
why you’re an alchemist, and what you can do with alchemy
(the correct answer is skip ingredients). You must keep this
book with you as a reference while you use the Prepare Potion
skill to pour the resulting solution in an empty bottle.
Embryo: The basis of alchemic
life, and the required item for creating Homunculi.
Required materials: 1 Morning Dew of Yggdrasil,
1 Seed of Life, 1 Glass Tube
Process: Combine the morning dew of Yggdrasil
and seed of life in a medicine bowl, and then use
the Prepare Potion skill to pour the result into a glass
tube where an embryo will be formed. You must study
Bioethics in order to create an embryo: you need to be
fully aware of the dangers associated with creating homunculi.

== Potion Book 9 ==

Produce special potions to enhance
resistance to elemental properties.

You can temporarily increase resistance to the
four basic elements, Fire, Water, Wind, and Earth
properties, by using catalyzers to produce potions
that will provide protection for each element. I write
this book on property resistance with the wish that
my principles and knowledge of the four basic
elements will help future Alchemists.

What is a property resistance potion?

Property resistance potions temporarily increase
resistance to one element, but also reduce resistance
to that element's opposing element. For example, fireproof
potions can reduce damage from the Fire property, but they
also increase damage from the Water property.

Fireproof Potion: Enhances Fire property resistance.
Required Materials: 2 Frills,
1 Red Gemstone, 1 Empty potion bottle
Process: Place the frills and a red gemstone into
a medicine bowl. Use the Prepare Potion skill so
that the gemstone will begin to catalyze the other
ingredients, and then pour the solution into an
empty potion bottle.
Coldproof Potion: Enhances Water property resistance.
Required Materials: 3 Heart of Mermaids,
1 Blue Gemstone, 1 Empty Potion Bottle
Process: Place the hearts of mermaid and blue
gemstone into a medicine bowl. Use the Prepare
Potion skill so that the gemstone will begin to catalyze
the other ingredients, and then pour the solution
into an empty potion bottle.

Thunderproof Potion: Enhances Wind property resistance.
Required Materials: 3 Moth Dust,
1 Blue Gemstone, 1 Empty Potion Bottle
Process: Place the moth dust and blue gemstone
into a medicine bowl. Use the Prepare Potion skill
so that the gemstone will begin to catalyze the
other ingredients, and then pour the solution
into an empty potion bottle.

Earthproof Potion: Enhances Earth property resistance.
Required Materials: 2 Large Jellopies,
1 Yellow Gemstone, 1 Empty potion bottle
Process: Place the large jellopies and yellow gemstone
into a medicine bowl. Use the Prepare Potion skill so that
the gemstone will begin to catalyze the other ingredients,
and then pour the solution into an empty potion bottle.
